Mission Ideas for Students

Acteens, an organization for teenage girls, encourages leadership development as it focuses on missions. The Acteens Leader magazine includes lesson plans for teaching and ministry project ideas in addition to personal Bible studies for the leader. The Mag is a special magazine for the girls themselves, designed to heighten missions awareness and help lead them towards a missions lifestyle. Go to www.acteens.com for more about Acteens.

Youth on Mission is a coed program that focuses not only on learning about but doing missions. The leader's book includes a whole year's worth of lessons and ministry project ideas, including retreats, weekly lessons, mission trips and more. Go to www.wmu.com/orgs/students for more information on Youth on Mission.

Mission Quest: An individual achievement plan for Acteens. Each level offers choices, takes into consideration the age and learning styles of teenagers and offers awards for completion. Go to www.acteens.com/ missionsquest/ index.asp for details. These books can be ordered from www. wmustore.com

Outflow

“Outflow is a missions experience for teams of students (12-18 years old, male and female) and their leaders.  These experiences are custom-designed 1-2 week trips that match students’ gifts with a community’s needs.  The trips may take place in the United States or internationally.  (Outflow is very similar to Activators and Point Teams, the student trips sponsored by National WMU)”

2007-2008 State Panelists Katie Hogan and Michelle Helton.

The application to serve as a State Panelist for 2008-2009 is available by clicking the link above. Panelists plan and work at the Weekender and help out at Mom & Me Camps in the spring. This a great way for you to develop as a leader. Don't delay! Applications are due June 1st.

The Weekender is a special girls only retreat of missions learning, leadership training, fun and personal growth held each spring. Group worship is led by inspirational speakers, missionaries, and musicians along with the current State Panelists. Both Bible studies and special interest conferences are offered. This is a great way for your teenage girls to experience fellowship with other girls from across Virginia.
