| Mission Education for Children
What is Missions?
Missions is the Biblically charged task of sharing with others that God loves them.
Missions Education for Girls Missions Education for Children
Girls in Action (GA) is a missions organization for girls grades 1-6. In GA, girls learn about missionaries, pray for missionaries and their work, engage in projects to help other people, and discover how their kindness in sharing God’s love can impact the lives of others. The GA World magazine is designed to enhance learning of each month’s topic through missionary and MK stories and information, games, recipes, crafts, and a prayer calendar. The GA Leader magazine is a planning guide for weekly lessons as well as reproducible activity pages and leadership articles. Not only are girls learning about missions, but are also doing mission projects that help them identify with the needs of others and see how they can make a difference in their world. For more information about Girls in Action, children's activity pages and leader's helps, visit the GA website. Want a quick overview? Read " What is Girl's In Action?"
WorldVenturesTM is an optional individual achievement plan in which each girl participates at her own level. Each WorldVenture level includes activities and projects designed to help girls grow spiritually and in their understanding of missions. There are six levels of WorldVentures, one for each grade. Corresponding awards are available for each WorldVenture as well as a leaders guide and other resources. These resources may be ordered through the WMU Store. |
Children in Action is a comprehensive missions education organization, for boys and girls in grades 1-6, which includes praying for missions, engaging in missions action and witness, learning about missions, developing spiritually toward a missions lifestyle, participating in the work of the church and denomination, and supporting missions. For more information about Children in Action and leader's helps, visit the Children in Action website. Want a quick overview? Read "What is Children in Action?" |

Outstanding GA 2009
It is with much pleasure WMUV announces Charlotte Wilmouth as the Outstanding GA 2009. Each year a 4th-6th grade girl who exhibits a missional lifestyle is selected from the nominations received from churches across Virginia.
Charlotte, a fifth-grader, is active in Girls in Action (GA) at Bon Air Baptist Church in the Richmond Association. Charlotte participates in the many activities and ministry projects of her GA group, but this year she especially enjoyed serving dinner at Freedom House , a shelter for the working homeless; and also preparing shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. She is also involved in Upward Basketball and the Interpretive Movement Ministry at Bon Air.
Marlo Ferguson, Charlotte's GA Co-leader, shares that "We call her 'Super Char!,' her laugh is infectious, and her passion for missions is amazing." She comments that Charlotte's positive attitude and willingness to help others personifies the characteristics of an Outstanding GA.
Congratulations, Charlotte, as you continue to learn about
missions and do missions!
Charlotte will receive the Lisk Scholarhsip, enabling her to
attend a week of summer camp at CrossRoads Camp and
Conference Center. She will also participate in leadership
roles at various WMUV events throughout upcoming year!
The Lisk Scholarship is awarded in memory of Kati and
Kristen Lisk, two of Virginia’s outstanding GAs who loved
camp.
To nominate an Outstanding GA or CIA in your church read the guidelines and fill out the nomination form which follows on pages 3 and 4.

The children of today are the missions leaders of tomorrow;
WMU encourages children to learn about God's love, become aware of the needs of others, learn the importance of prayer; and start doing missions themselves. |
